Unexpected surprise.
The water heater arrived quickly and undamaged. I installed it and after wiring it and turning it on, the heater didn’t heat. A little trouble shooting quickly showed that the over temperature switch was not operating. I called Defender and their person advised me to call the factory. That call was routed to the correct person. He picked up, listened, and immediately said that he was concerned and would get to the bottom of the issue. My call was the second in two days and that was totally unacceptable. He checked for replacements and found he had some, then said he would send Two out that day, giving me a replacement if necessary. It wasn’t necessary, as the first one I tried, worked fine, but I now have a spare. Not only was Defender quick to respond, but so was Kuuma. Exemplary response from both.

Questions
The measurements given in the product description are accurate. If you’re replacing an old heater installation is pretty easy, just re attach all hoses and electric line. Fill water tank before turning heater on or you’ll burn out the heating element.
Convert To DC? Could I take this water heater and get a DC element and DC thermostat and feed it 24v DC instead?

Kuuma's dimensional specs are accurate. Get them from Kuuma, or distributor. I used this unit to replace
a burnt-out, obsolete water heater in our Ericson 34-2; it fit. Installation isn't particularly easy, owing to very difficult spaces involved and other equipment in the way. These are limiting factors, moreso than unit dimensions, but both matter. Good luck.
