with the benefits of 4 stroke outboards, the Mercury EFI Four Stroke takes performance to the next level.
Mercury's exclusive EFI system delivers reliable turn-key starting and smooth, consistent running in all types
of weather conditions and climates. Unlike carburetors, Mercury's EFI system monitors engine speed, piston position,
intake manifold pressure, throttle position, intake air temperature and engine coolant temperature to continuously
adjust and precisely meter the amount of fuel used by the engine.
Keeping it Cool
The Mercury 30-60 EFI system employs dual fuel coolers as added protection against vapor lock. Vapor lock occurs
when the fuel temperature rises too high and the fuel vaporizes. When that happens, the fuel no longer flows through
the system and the engine will not start or run. By incorporating two fuel coolers, the temperature of the fuel
is better controlled to provide reliable starting and consistent operation, especially during hot conditions.
 
Emission Friendly
By precisely controlling the fuel being used, Mercury 30-60 EFI outboards exceed even the strictest emissions standards
in place today. These engines surpass the California Air Resources Board's (CARB) 3-Star rating, making them some
of the cleanest-running engines in the market. In fact, these engines have reduced emissions more than 91% over
traditional 2-Stroke outboards.
