OUTLET STORE SALES ASSOCIATE

Job Summary:
This position is responsible for establishing and providing high standards in customer relations, product knowledge and sales floor services.  This position requires us to maintain optimum customer service levels through personalized, friendly service.  Responsible for maintaining a knowledge of all products and current marketing strategies.  Responsible for answering phones and respond to cashier paging in a timely manner.  Maintain inventory, product merchandising standards and inventory counts.  Maintain store cleanliness & facility conditions.  Maintain a vigilant security watch on store merchandise, as well as customer safety.  Cooperate with all departments.  Help load and unload merchandise for customers when needed.  

Nature and Scope:
This position reports directly to the Outlet Store Manager and Assistant Manager.  It functions in a department that exists to provide experience, excellence, and expertise in all areas of the Outlet Store, especially in customized friendly service.  

Education and Experience:
2 year college degree, and or 3+ years of marine industry experience, and/or moderate boating experience/product knowledge with High School Diploma required. (Sail or Power preferred)  

Essential Job Duties:
Customer service in varying degrees.  Help customers locate in stock items.  Guide customers in different scenarios of customer service. Answer incoming phone calls, providing answers and guidance for customers calling in.  Take orders for customers for items we don’t have in stock or don’t normally carry in stock. Help customers with purchased items out to their vehicles.

Qualifications:

Excellent human relations skills and interpersonal skills required.  Skills in conflict resolution needed. Accuracy and timeliness are very important.  Must be able to work with frequent interruptions. Personal computer and data entry skills, familiarity with MS Excel, and Word a plus. Must be able to work in a fast paced environment. Accuracy, attention to detail, neatness, good communication skills, ability to prioritize and organize and flexibility are all important to effectively perform this job

Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; to reach with hands and arms; to talk and to hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; stoop; climb ladders; kneel; crouch and crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. TRAFFIC SUPERVISOR

OBJECTIVE:
Under direction of the Warehouse Operations Manager the incumbent’s main responsibility is to complete essential functions to ensure LTL (less-than-truckload), Volume, and international small parcel shipments are completed successfully. The incumbent needs to be able to work across departments, and maintain relationships with our carriers. In addition this position is responsible for ensuring all shipments comply with DOT, and carrier regulations.

The incumbent may provide direction to clerical support, and hourly personnel assigned to them. This position is expected to insure optimum service to our customers both internal and external while maintaining a cost effective, safe, sanitary, working environment, and with a high level of employee morale.

NATURE & SCOPE:
The incumbent reports directly to the Operations Manager and Operations Supervisor.  Functions in a department that exists to provide experience, excellence and expertise in all areas of the warehouse operation, especially as it pertains to LTL, Volume, and international shipments.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Quote inbound and outbound shipments for purchasing and call center
  • Manage relationship with carriers, customer service, accounting, and purchasing to resolve billing issues
  • Manage the Bill of Lading process
  • Monitor inbound and outbound small parcel and freight shipments
    • Provide shipper summary reports for all inbound and outbound shipments on a daily basis
  • Review international, and freight forwarder orders. Ensure orders are processed in accordance with shipping regulations.
    This includes but is not limited to:
    • SDS documents
    • Obtain AES/ITN numbers
    • Research harmonized codes
    • Verification of country of origin
  • Manage claims for missing or damaged goods
  • Complete classifications of products
  • Ensure Defender is complaint with DOT 49-CFR regulations
    • Constantly review 49-CFR, and carrier shipping regulations. Work with management when the regulations change to ensure Defender is complaint with all new changes
  • Effectively communicates operational objectives and develops goals to attain expected results
  • Developing and maintaining effective relations and productive teamwork with warehouse employees, supervisors, and other personnel
  • Ensures a safe work environment while maintaining targeted levels of productivity and quality
  • Assist in securing the building at the end of the shift

STANDARDS & ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Achieves planned Warehouse goals

  • Communicates frequently with subordinates to alert the status of on-going operations pertaining to the incumbent's area of responsibility
  • Responds promptly to telephone calls and electronic communication, demonstrating consideration and courtesy
  • Performs various Logistic Department related functions and assignments in an accurate and timely manner, as required by the circumstances and/or by the supervisor
  • Assists other department personnel in the performance of work activities when peak workloads require or during absences of facility personnel
  • Attends work regularly and on time

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Work History: High School graduate or equivalent required. 4-year college degree desirable. Read and speak English. 2 years warehousing experience required. One (1) year experience handling traffic, documentation, and/or customer service functions for a carrier. DOT 49 CFR shipper certification and (IMDG) International Maritime Dangerous Good preferred, OSHA experience/certification desired. Previous supervisory experience required.
