StormProof Your Boat

For Hurricane Preparation
advice and techniques,
try Stormproof Your Boat -
The Complete Guide to Battening
Down when Storms Threaten

Every boater hopes for a quick and easy hurricane season, but it is always best to be prepared for the worst. Make plans to secure your boat well before the storm develops, to ensure you have all the time and supplies you will need.  Defender can provide expedited shipping, but there is no substitute for good planning. After the storm supplies may be limited.

You will want to secure your boat with large fenders and multiple anchor lines or dock lines. Make sure you have chafing gear in place. Check all bilge pumps and strainers. This might be a good time to add a high capacity high water bilge pump. Plan to remove loose or bulky gear from the deck and have enough tie-downs to secure anything else that could come loose in the wind.

Defender has all the gear you'll need to weather the storm. We stock a wide selection of fenders, dock lines, chafe guards, bilge pumps, tarps, and storm anchors. We also have items you may need after the storm has passed, including flashlights and lamps, portable toilets, portable stoves, coolers, water makers, first aid kits, and more. Whether your boat is on a mooring, at the marina, or on a trailer, we have the products to keep your vessel safe and secure this hurricane season.
