    General Features:

    • Rose Point Coastal Explorer™ is a sophisticated and full-featured, yet very easy to use navigation software package designed specifically for the pleasure boater
    • Coastal Explorer will help you make your next cruise safer and more enjoyable with support for more charts and chart formats than any other recreational navigation system
    • Includes route planning features with multi-level undo capability, integrated gazetteer and guide books, virtual instrument display, and obstacle alerts
    • The gazetteer includes millions of places in the US, Canada, and Mexico and many more countries are available

    • Guidebook information from ActiveCaptain and other sources is tightly integrated into Coastal Explorer's charts
    • Sailing directions from the US Coast Pilot® are also included
    • Rose Point Navigation Systems has found that most recreational boaters cruise seasonally and need to re-learn parts of more complicated navigation systems each year
      • As a result, they end up using a small number of the available features and often feel their system has a lot more than they need
      • One of the main things that sets Coastal Explorer apart from other navigation systems is the overall user interface which was carefully designed to provide easy access to a lot of functionality, and extremely easy access to the most needed features
      • Several key techniques were used to simplify the use of Coastal Explorer and to reduce the learning curve, including splitting the feature set across the two modes
    • Two Modes: Planning and Cruising
          • Planning Mode uses a Windows-like user interface for familiarity and ease of use
          • Cruise Mode shows you the features needed for cruising while reducing screen clutter and window management
        • The most appropriate commands for planning are easily accessible in Planning mode, and the commands most needed while cruising are instantly accessible in Cruising mode
        • Coastal Explorer even switches modes for the user automatically based on movement (or lack thereof) of the boat
        • Planning and Cruise Mode, help reduce the amount of functionality that must be presented to the user at any given time and to make the most important functions easier to access when they are needed
