Wood Chart Walloon Lake
This beautiful map of Walloon Lake is a 3-D nautical wood map featuring this glacier-formed lake in Northern Michigan lined with vacation homes and cottages. Though the end of the West arm of the lake is less than one mile from Lake Michigan, Walloon Lake's surface elevation is over 100 feet higher. The Bear River drains from the east end of the lake in Walloon Lake Village, winding east and then north down to its outflow into Lake Michigan at the south end of Petoskey.
- Chart Location: Walloon Lake, Michigan
- Material: Baltic Birch
- Dimensions: 16" x 20"
- Ready to hang solid wood frame with quality acrylic dust cover
- Intricate detail
Starting with a bathymetric chart (the underwater equivalent of a topographic map), Wood Charts uses laser-cutters to carve the contours into sheets of Baltic birch and glue them together to create a powerful visual depth. They hand stain select layers a blue-green so it's easy to discern land from water, etch major byways into the land, then frame the whole thing in a custom, solid wood frame, protected with a sheet of durable, ultra-transparent acrylic and ready to hang.
